Singles become pairs: New insights into the light scattering of atoms

Researchers at the Humboldt University of Berlin, partners of the DAALI project, have demonstrated a surprising effect present in the fluorescent light of a single atom Researchers headed by Jürgen Volz and Arno Rauschenbeutel from the Department of Physics at the Humboldt University of Berlin, partners of the DAALI project, have gained new insights into […]

Researchers Night in Barcelona

Last Thursday, September 29th, DAALI partner Antonio Rubio, post-doc researcher from ICFO, participated in the European Researchers Night, by giving a talk to the public at large about ultra cold atom gases. Entitled “Recepta per preparar el punt més fred de l’univers” (in English “A recipe for preparing the coolest spot in  the Universe”), Antonio […]

DAALI achieves one of its first milestones

In a recent paper published in PRL, researchers from the Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology and the Humboldt University of Berlin, and partners of DAALI, have demonstrated the trapping of a single rubidium atom at nanoscale distances from the surface of a whispering-gallery-mode microresonator.

Super-extended nanofiber-guided field for coherent interaction with hot atoms

A study that includes DAALI research groups from led by Arno Rauschenbeutel, from Humboldt University (HUB), and  Barak Dayan, from The Weizmann Institute of Science, shows the effects of the interactions of light and matter under warm atomic vapor conditions.  Efficient interaction between light and matter and particularly the faithful coherent mapping between photons and […]

DAALi project has started

On October 6th, the Daali project met for the first to officially kick-off the project. During the online meeting that took, place all partners of the consortium were able to introduce themselves and explain their involvement in the project, the tasks to be executed as well as the goals to be achieved.
